Executive Director Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio

Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio has an immediate opening for an Executive Director, responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors.

The Executive Director will provide oversight to ensure appropriate planning, implementation and evaluation of the organization’s programs and services, as well as establish positive, strong working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community stakeholders, and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the organization.  The Executive Director should have the following personal characteristics and demonstrated competencies:

  • Strong experience and demonstrated leadership abilities, knowledge of human resources management, financial management, problem solving and project management related to non-profit organizations
  • Strategic Thinker: assess options and actions based on trends and conditions in the environment, and the vision and values of the organization
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and versatile in a changing work environment while develop new and unique ways to improve operations of the organization
  • Effective Communicator: speak, listen, and write in a clear, thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques
  • Strong Organizer: set priorities, develop a schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details, data, information, and activities
  • Familiarity with current community challenges and opportunities, and full understanding of all federal and state legislation applicable to healthcare and non-profit organizations

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Participate with the Board in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide the organization and foster effective teamwork throughout the organization
  • Primary spokesperson for the organization, representing the organization at community activities to enhance the organization’s community profile

Development of funds

  • Establish and execute an aggressive plan for fundraising: grant opportunities, individual major gifts and institutional giving programs delivering significant growth
  • Engage with fundraising staff, volunteers, donors, foundations, and Board Members to increase the Capital campaign fundraising

Operational planning and management

  • Compliance with all directives and guidance as established by the National Charter of the Ronald McDonald House Charities
  • Develop an operational plan which incorporates programs, goals, and objectives to achieve the strategic direction and mission of the organization
  • Implement organizational policies and ensure that effective day-to-day operation of the organization meets the expectations of its clients, Board, and funders
  • Monitor the delivery of the programs and services of the organization to maintain and improve quality

Human Resources planning and management

  • Ensure the implementation of the human resources policies, procedures, and practices, establishing a respectful, positive, and safe work environment
  • Determine staffing requirements for organizational management, recruit, interview and select staff with the appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities

Financial planning and management

  • Ensure sound bookkeeping and accounting procedures are followed and the organization complies with all local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations
  • Administer the funds of the organization according to the approved budget and monitor the monthly cash flow of the organization

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree required, Master’s degree in business, healthcare, or a related field preferred
  • 10 or more years of progressive management experience in a non-profit or health-care organization or equivalent experience in a for profit environment.

Night Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists House Manager with daily operations of the house.

Responsible for the well being and comfort of guests.

Assures cleanliness of house.

Assures rooms are setup and ready for the next guests.

Register and checkout guests.

Answers telephone, sorts and distributes mail.

Supervises activities of guests and community service volunteers.

 

Hours:

Monday & Tuesday

2 or 3 days a week 1:00 am to 9:00 am

Weekend Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists House Manager with daily operations of the house.

Responsible for the well being and comfort of guests.

Assures cleanliness of house.

Assures rooms are setup and ready for the next guests.

Register and checkout guests.

Answers telephone, sorts and distributes mail.

Supervises activities of guests and community service volunteers.

Hours: 

Friday 5:00 pm to Sunday 5:00 pm. (1 weekend a month) Must stay on premises.
